In my essay I willing begin by to summarize the story The Burning of Rome. I will then go on to talking about Tacitus and his expressive bolt and also what he wants endorsers to gain from the characters and events.
The Burning of Rome is a retelling of a historical event from Tacitus view. Nero is the cruel and violent emperor butterfly of Rome and has a new problem. His city begins to burn to the priming while he does nothing to stop it. Rumors soon arose impeach the Emperor Nero of ordering the torching of the city and standing on the upside of the Palatine playing his lyre as flames devoured the world around him. Tacitus go in-depth into the events that happened during the fire and retells it in a very magnified way.
Tacituss style is using loaded language to descend the ratifiers emotions flowing . He delivers the emotions of pity, sympathy and wickedness when he says The shrieks of panic-stricken women; the weakness of the aged, and the helplessness of the young.(Tacitus) His purpose of using these words is he wants them to palpate pity toward the women and old men. So with the readers feeling that way, they feel hatred against Nero and somewhat go against him, therefore they believe more than in the lead that he started the fire.



He shifted the charge onto others, and inflicted the most cruel tortures upon a body of men detested for their abominations, and popularly known by the name of Christians.(Tacitus) In this sentence the words appeal to the readers emotion of sympathy. They should feel horrible that he gangrenous and tortured the Christians because they follow a disliked new religion. Nero essentially used them as an effort to take the blame shoot of him.
In his story Tacitus believes his readers should think that Nero started the fire that destroyed Rome. Tacitus wants his reader to think of Nero as a corrupt, manipulative human being, and general the worst, most evil leader that ever ruled over Rome.
