Caliban Upon Sebetos Response

Reading Response to Caliban upon Setebos The first stanza of Robert Br experienceings Caliban upon Setebos describes Calibans duck hunting in the character around him and his boldness in his chat with himself-importance-importance about both god and his masters. Br delivering uses the word cliff to describe the graphemeicularly nasty mud that Caliban is sprawl(ed)(1) in, Flat on his belly in the pit(2). Caliban feels water lizards, or raze(p) eft-things(5), public life(5) over his body, [making] him laugh(6) as the pompion plant(7), or pumpkin, [Coats] the cave-top as a brow its eye(8) and Creeps d cause to gibe and tickle hair and beard(7-8). Caliban looks out oer yon sea which sunbeams cross/ And recross till they twist a spider web(12-13). The use of personification in describing Calibans interactions with nature serves to make their interactions more intimate. In the back part of the first stanza, Caliban goes on to describe how he nates [Touch] that other , whom his be quiet called God(16) by talking to his own self howeer he please(15) about him(17). That other whom his dam annulus called god(16) is a reference to Shakespears Tempest, in which Setebos is the bring forth of Calinbans god. Calibans ability to appreciate the nature that the gods presumably created around him, as well as his willingness to [talk] to his own self(15) about him(17) (with him referring to Setebos) enables Caliban to touch(16), or to reach the resembling rank as Setebos, even if only Calibans own mind. Caliban is vexed, or irritated, by his discussion with himself about Setebos, but thinks its funny that Could He but know!(18) or that Setebos remains clueless to Calibans inner feelings about him. Caliban refers to Setebos in leash person until the endorsement stanza. This gives the lecturer the impression that Caliban has such a poor position of Setebos that he is unworthy of a name.
